Many men and women do workout programs not only because they want to lose weight, but also because they want to build up some muscles. However, starting a program is not that easy. There are still things to consider before you could start subjecting your muscles to some stress and one of these is what muscle to start with first.
In working out, you need to go slow for two weeks to one month depending on your body type. It is advisable that you don't overdo the exercises first or else test your limits, as this could lead to grave injuries. It is best if you will work on your entire body during a session and not do a split routine if you have been only working out for less than six months. However, you should begin your workout regimen with the muscles that are larger first before you start on the ones that are smaller. A great example of this would be to start with the legs, then on to back, the chest, the arms, the calves and then the abs. You should see to it that you do your workouts three days every week, taking care not to do it one day after the other.
Now that you know which of your muscles you should start working on with first during your workouts, it is also best if you understand what you are subjecting them to. The muscles grow upon recovering from the severe stress that they undergo when you work them out. It is said that when you put your body through grueling exercises, it will think that you were dying and fighting to live. As such, it will produce more muscles so you can cope better the next time you need to fight. Because of this, if you really want to develop some muscles, you have to subject them to as much stress as you can. However, you should also give them time as well as food, which they really need to mend and grow correctly.
So, it is imperative that you do not put stress on the same muscle each day you do some workout exercises. This is because it won't have adequate time to regroup and develop properly. If you have been working out regularly over the recent months, then you should really take on more weights in your workout program. With this, more time will be need by your muscles to mend than before, when you first began working out. Remember though that while the recovery time of your muscles could depend on your metabolic rate, the most common recovery time that muscles that have been heavily worked out need is 48 hours.
