What is Art Therapy?

By Jennifer Baxt

Art therapy hardly seems like the traditional type of therapy a person would see on a television show or a movie, does it? Therapy is hardly the age old stereotype that people who have no personal experience of being through therapy may picture in their minds. New methods and ideas are thought up and put into practice all the time in an effort to help people more than before. With more options available to individuals who are suffering from phobias, depression or any other condition, the more of a chance they have to work through their condition and have better lives as a result. Art therapy is one of many proven methods used to help people deal with the issues they may have that are making their lives more difficult than they need to be.

Art therapy is basically what this type of therapy is all about. It is where a person will use art, whether it is clay, paints, or pencils, to express themselves. It is a therapy that can help a person explore their inner feelings, their dreams or memories in a way that could often be easier than using words. It is through this method that a therapist can learn more about what is troubling the patient. Learning more about the patient can help the therapist decide what the best treatment or therapy the patient may need in order to continue the healing process, or overcome their depression.

A common misconception about art therapy is that it is used more for children who seem to be suffering as a result of an incident or condition, but in truth it is for just about anyone who it will work for. Regardless of what the patient's age is art therapy can help people who suffer from depression, abuse, or certain phobias. Art encourages a person to be more creative and through this type of therapy can gain a better understanding of themselves and their issues. It will also help the counselor, or therapist, get a window into the patient's subconscious where they can find the answers they need in order to help their patient. Often, being creative can even bring out the most subconscious thoughts of a person without them even realizing it. After all, many of the problems a person may have can often be found by the therapist helping them to look deeper into their subconscious to retrieve the issues that are at the root of their problem. It is through gaining a proper understanding of what the patient's real problem is that a therapist can properly treat the patient, either through medicinal or non-medicinal therapies.

Art therapy is perhaps the best way for a therapist to help a patient bring out what is bothering them and creating the depression or condition. Sometimes words are just not enough and can't fully explain what a patient is feeling or going though. Art has a way of allowing a person to express their feelings fully. Words can occasionally be limiting, where art does not really have any limits and this is what makes this type of therapy a great option for young and old alike.

Top 7 Tips To Choose Healing Herbs For Your Conditions

By Raymond Geok Seng Lee

Those who use over-the-counter and prescription pharmaceuticals always know how much medicine they are taking because FDA regulations require precision. People who use herbs face more of a challenge. However, in controlled doses, herbs cause fewer side effects than pharmaceuticals. Pharmaceuticals are highly concentrated, and pills and capsules have little taste, factors that make it easy to overdose. The active constituents in herbs are typically less concentrated, and most taste quite bitter, which discourages taking too much. Once you decide you want to use herbs, you are still left with some key questions. Which herbs? And how do you use them? Here is a list of common safe and effective herbs to choose from, along with some information about the conditions they treat that you can consider.

1. Ephedra

In addition to its decongestant value, Chinese ephedra has a long history of use in Asia as a coffeelike stimulant. Recent studies have also shown that ephedra boosts metabolic rate - the speed at which the body burns calories. As a result, it has shown some benefit as a weight-loss aid, but only in those who are significantly overweight. Ephedra can also increase heart rate and blood pressure, so do not use it if you have high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes or glaucoma. You should also not take ephedra if you have thyroid problems. In fact, ephedra has been shown to be harmful when taken improperly and should not be used by anyone with health problems. If you want to take ephedra or any product containing ephedra, you should discuss it with your doctor.

2. Ginseng

Prized above gold for thousands of years, ginseng root has been Asia's most revered tonic. It was viewed as an aphrodisiac that strengthens the body, enhances health and aids longevity. Early Jesuit missionaries in Canada discovered American ginseng in 1704 and made a fortune shipping it to China. The herb was eventually discovered growing as far south as Georgia, and it quickly became one of the American colonies' most valuable exports, until the overcollection just about wiped it out. Today Amercian ginseng is farmed in Wisconsin. Most of the crop is shipped to Asia. Evidence is mounting that the herb helps the body resist illness and damage from stress. Studies show that ginseng stimulates the immune system, helps reduce cholesterol levels, protects the liver from toxic substances and increases stamina and nutrient absorption from the intestines. Asian Olympic athletes take it regularly to boost their performance.

3. Ginger

Scientific research has shown that ginger fights nausea better than the over-the-counter anti-nausea drug Dramamine. This root herb does more than simply soothe the stomach, however. An ancient Indian proverb says, "Every good quality is contained in ginger." Well, not quite, but studies show that it also boosts the immune system's ability to fight infection. And like garlic, it lowers blood pressure and cholesterol and helps prevent the blood clots that trigger heart attack.

4. Rosemary

Long before refrigeration was available, the ancients noticed that wrapping meat in crushed rosemary leaves preserved it and imparted a tasty flavour. To this day, the herb remains a favourite addition to meat dishes, and its preservative action led to its use in herbal medicine. Meats spoil in part because oxidation turns their fats rancid. Rosemary oil retards spoilage and compares favourably with the commercial preservatives BHA and BHT. Rosemary' s preservative action may help prevent food poisoning at your next picnic. Mix the crushed herb into burger meat and tuna, pasta and potato salads. Rosemary also helps soothe the stomach.

5. Aloe Vera

In ancient Egypt (1500 B.C.), the Ebers Papyrus recommended aloe vera for skin problems, and the world has been using this herb ever since. Chinese, Greek, Roman and Arab herbalists recommended it for wounds, burns, rashes and hemorrhoids. During the 1930s, radiologists discovered aloe vera's effectiveness in treating radiation burns. The latest studies show that the herb has clear value in treating minor cuts, scrapes and burns.

6. Chamomile

When Peter Rabbit ate himself sick in McGregor's garden and got chased out at the wrong end of a hoe, his mother gave him chamomile tea, a traditional remedy for indigestion, anxiety and wounds. Peter's mom was a wise woman...er, bunny. German herbalists once used chamomile so extensively, they called it alles zutraut, "capable of anything." That is an exaggeration, but recent studies show that this popular beverage herb does indeed calm jangled nerves, relieve stomach distress, prevent ulcers and speed their healing and help fight infection by stimulating the immune system. Chamomile tea is an excellent home remedy for indigestion, heartburn and infant colic. It also has mild relaxant and sedative properties.

7. Garlic

After ephedra, garlic is considered the world's second oldest medicine. The oldest surviving garlic prescription, chiselled into a Sumerian clay tablet, dates from 3000 B.C. The ancient world revered garlic as a virtual panacea, but none loved it as deeply as the Egyptians who consumed so much that the Greek historian Herodotus called them "the stinking ones." As the centuries passed, Europeans hung braided garlic plants from their doorsteps to keep evil spirits at bay - a custom echoed today in the garlic braids that adorn many kitchens. During World War I, army doctors used garlic juice quite effectively to treat wounds and dysentery. After the war, scientists discovered why it worked: When chewed or chopped, garlic is a potent natural antibiotic. In fact, ten medium cloves pack approximately the same antibiotic punch as a typical dose of penicillin. Garlic also has antiviral properties. Garlic is a useful herb. It can help protects against stomach cancer and reduces risk of heart disease by lowering blood pressure, reducing cholesterol and decreasing the likelihood of blood clots that can trigger heart attack.

The Origins of Chinese Medical Theories

By John Fung

Where do the medical theories come from?

The scholars wrote their theories in classical Chinese literature since ancient times.

Some scholars were herbalists, but most were philosophers, historians and poets.

Besides talking about healing, the classical theories also discuss the scholars' philosophical views about the cosmos, nature, life and health.

Some examples of early classical work:

"Historical Records", Si Ma Qian. It talks about the earliest herbalist, Shen Nong, circa 3500 B.C., tasting various herbs and assessing their medicinal values.

"Book of Interior" or "Nei Jing", author unknown. This is the first comprehensive medical book appearing around 300 B.C. It mentions the Yellow Emperor, circa 3000 B.C., discussing the theory of The Five Elements and The Six Essences with one of his Ministers, thus establishing the Yellow Emperor as the legendary founder of Chinese medicine. This early book already pointed out the important concept of disease prevention in addition to cure.

"Book on Medical Perplexities", Bian Que. The author is known as the first acupuncturist circa 360 B.C. He also formalized the Chinese method of diagnosis consisting of four steps: observe, listen, question, and pulse read.

The most famous herbalist, Hua Tuo, circa 160 A.D., did not leave any writings behind. However, his works were well documented in various classical texts, especially, "Annals of the Three States". Hua Tuo is known to employ herbal anesthetics in minor surgeries, and to have invented the Five Styles of Chinese Boxing.

"Shang Han Lun", Zhang Zhong Jing. This is the first specialized book about infectious diseases, symptoms, and disease therapy (circa 200 A.D.)

"Book on Pulse", Wang Shu He. Chinese pulse diagnosis has been employed since ancient times. Wang was the first author to describe pulse methods circa 250 A.D., which were later introduced to neighboring countries such as Japan and Korea.

What are the strong points about Chinese medical theories?

 Over 4000 years of history

Written by scholars of literary renown

High literary, historical, and philosophical values besides medical

In addition to healing and health, topics include philosophy, history, cosmology, nature and life.

Emphasis on prevention as much as cure.

What are the weak points about Chinese medical theories?

Not written for ordinary people most of whom were illiterate

Intended as a document or intellectual discourse for the Imperial Court, and the small audience of literary elite.

Difficult to understand due to high abstraction

Difficult to apply to so many real cases, which always require the healer to first understand the actual conditions of the disease and the agony of the patient.

The rest of the weak points are man-made, as follows:

 Inaccurate interpretations by many readers

Insufficient questioning and reality check by most readers

Most readers commingle the abstract classical theories with the empirical knowledge of herbs

Many readers like to quote classical terms without really trying to understand what they mean.

Some readers pretend that they understand the theories and try to apply them blindly to real cases. In fact, there is nothing wrong to admit that the theories are too abstract to understand, let alone applying them.

The Essential Oil of Palo Santo - A Holy Wood That Shows Great Healing Properties for Today

By Linda Lee Smith

Palo Santo (Bursera graveolens) is in the Burseracae (frankincense) family and comes from Ecuador. We get the oil through steam distillation of the dried bark, wood and branches. Palo Santo is a relatively new oil that is being distilled from the limbs of the trees which have fallen to the earth. Although the oil is present in young trees and saplings, the highest quality is distilled from the aged heartwood. Palo Santo oil is golden yellow, with a fresh and intense citrus aroma. Under the lemon top notes are subtle resinous wood notes and a slight medicinal pungency, which give the oil an intriguing complexity. The trees are now protected by the government to prevent over harvesting.

Traditionally, Palo Santo was known to the native peoples of Latin America as a spiritual oil. Tradition goes all the way back to the Incas who used it to purify and cleanse the air of negative energies. Its Spanish name even tells us it was considered holy or sacred. Palo Santo is one of the most important trees used in traditional ethno-botanical medicine of South America. It is widely used as an incense for repelling mosquitoes. The wood is cooked into decoction and taken for fevers, infections, and skin diseases. It is still widely used by shamans of the Andes in curing ceremonies.

How Can Palo Santo Help Us Today?

As for modern uses, people are still discovering how beneficial this oil can be. It is in the frankincense family but found on another continent. Its fragrance can lift you to a spiritual place just as frankincense does. Testimonials have included cases where it has been found to be anti-tumoral, anti-bacterial, anti-viral, helpful for sciatic pain, and bone healing. Analysis of Palo Santo oil reveals that it contains high levels of limonene, a monoterpene compound that has been found to have chemo-preventive and chemo-therapeutic effects against several types of cancer. In medical aromatherapy the oil can be used to counteracts panic attacks and anxiety, a respiratory remedy for cough, colds, and asthma, for headaches and migraines, and in massage therapy for pain and inflammation of the muscles and joints. In spiritual aromatherapy it can be beneficial for meditation, concentration, and for enhancing creativity and learning.

You can diffuse or apply Palo Santo topically. Until you know how your skin will react, it is best to dilute Palo Santo 50-50 with a vegetable oil. As for safety, this is a non-toxic, non-irritating and non-sensitizing oil. Since this is such a relatively new oil on the market, it is best to consult a physician if pregnant.

The Essential Oil Jasmine Absolute - A Seductive and Exotic Fragrance

By Linda Lee Smith

Jasmine (Jasminum officinale) is an exotic delicate fragrance that is overpowering for some people. It comes from India and is in the olive family. We get jasmine absolute from the flowers. Actually it is an "essence" not an essential oil. The flowers must be picked at night when the fragrance is at its height. By sunrise, most of the fragrance has evaporated from the flowers. It takes a 1,000 pounds of uncrushed jasmine flowers to create only one pound of jasmine oil. Solvent extraction is used to create an absolute and the oil is produced by steam distillation of the absolute. Jasmine is an evergreen shrub or vine that may grow as long as 30 feet with delicate, bright green leaves and star-shaped very fragrant white flowers.

Traditionally, jasmine was nicknamed the "Queen of the Night." Women have found this fragrance to be seductive and exotic. Common jasmine was said to warm the womb and facilitate birth. In China the flowers were used to treat hepatitis, liver cirrhosis and dysentery. The root was used to treat headaches, insomnia, pain due to dislocated joints and rheumatism.

How Can Jasmine Help Today?

Jasmine has mild analgesic action, can be considered uplifting, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, stimulating and antibacterial. This is one oil I would call an aphrodisiac. Jasmine can be applied on location, on the chakras/vita flex points on the feet, it can be directly inhaled or diffused. It blends well with rose, sandalwood, clary sage, and all citrus oils. It can actually blend with virtually everything. As for safety, jasmine is non-toxic, non-irritating and generally non-sensitizing.

Want to learn more about the healing properties of jasmine and other essential oils? Consider becoming a certified aromatherapist. Educational courses in healing energy and aromatherapy can help you understand how essential oils heal the body/mind/spirit.

The Benefits of Bowtrol Colon Cleanser

By Andrew Art

There had been much publicity regarding a person having their colon cleansed; this is often heard of in the circle of the rich and famous in Hollywood California. However, you do not need to travel to Hollywood or be in circle of the rich and famous to be able to achieve the extensive benefits of colon cleansing. Bowtrol colon cleanser is an amazing all natural treatment that is made from herbs and has the same amazing effects as a professional colon cleansing done at the salons that celebrities flock to.

One may wonder just what it is about colon cleansing that gives a person benefits. The list is astounding. When a cleansing is done, vital organs and your lymphatic system are cleansed. Having this done, a person will find that they will no longer feel bloated, as bowel obstructions are removed and the intestinal tract is decontaminated and cleaned. A person will lose weight, due to the weight of unnecessary waste that was once trapped in their body and they will lose extra water that their body was retaining, as well.

Cleansing, which is also sometimes referred to as detoxification, happens each day, as a person's body attempts to cleanse using the liver, lungs, kidneys, colon and even skin. When a person sweats, urinates or has a bowel movement, this is the body's way of eliminating waste products that are not meant to be contained in one's body. When waste is trapped inside a person's colon and just sits there, it can be very unhealthy. When thinking about all of the germs, contaminants and bacteria that are found in waste; it would only seem wise to eliminate this from the body as fast as possible to maintain good health. If not doing so, as the toxins increase, the body will slow down. A person will begin to feel tired, hungry and may seek chemicals to counteract those feelings such as drinking a lot of coffee. However, there is a better way to rid a body of this waste.

This treatment is found to be extremely safe and painless. This treatment is not even comparable to laxatives or enemas. When Bowtrol colon cleanser is used, there is no painful cramping and no loose stools. A person will experience frequent and healthy bowel movements that will carry out waste that was once trapped inside their body.

Many people may not realize that the human body is meant to have many bowel movements in a twenty-four hour period. Most people will find that they have one, if that. This shows that there is so much waste that is caught inside one's body and can cause weight gain, bloating and an overall feeling of not being at optimal health. Once this waste is removed, it is extremely freeing as toxins and chemicals are slowly and naturally released from the body. There are other ways of attempting to rid one's body of toxins and waste, such as drinking large amounts of water, exercising which releases more sweat or eating a vegan diet; however this is easier said than done. Even people who practice any of these methods will find that it in no way eliminates all of the waste that is built up in one's colon. Bowtrol colon cleanser can offer a person the same benefits as the treatments that celebrities seek and it can do in a healthy and safe way.

Are you still not entirely sure you need to cleanse your colon?

Tai Chi Therapy for Hypertension

By Milos Pesic

According to New Medicine.com, "Tai Chi is a Chinese system of physical exercises that is believed to facilitate the flow of Qi (life force) in the body, promoting good health and vitality. Tai Chi utilizes movements that are Yin Yang opposites: softness and strength, forward and backwards, action and calm."

Back in 2003, in the October issue of the Journal of Alternative and Complimentary Medicine, it was reported in a study that Tai Chi "could decrease blood pressure and results in favorable lipid profile changes and improve subjects' anxiety status." Tai Chi is simple and completely natural and nonintrusive. The only side effects are good ones, like a stronger immune system and healthier respiratory system. So why isn't it prescribed more often as a treatment for high blood pressure?

At the risk of sounding cynical, I would say that the reason that it isn't prescribed for the treatment of it more often is...well...money. There isn't a pill. The drug companies, and the medical profession in general, simply will not make a profit when a physician prescribes Tai Chi.

Fortunately for those of us who suffer from high blood pressure, we don't need a prescription to use it. Classes are offered at many different places and they are very, very inexpensive... sometimes they are even free. If there are no classes being offered near where you live, you can order CDs and DVDs that will provide instruction, and you can practice it in the comfort of your own home.

Just imagine! You can lower your blood pressure by simply participating in Tai Chi. There are no pills to swallow. There are no painful injections. The only side effects are good ones! What more could one ask for?

Neroli Absolute - The Exotic Fragrance of the Orange Tree Blossom

By Linda Lee Smith

Neroli absolute (Citrus aurantium var. amara) is in the Rutaceae (citrus) family. The oil is an absolute extraction from the flowers of the bitter orange tree meaning that a solvent was used to force the oil from the orange blossoms. This is a beautiful fragrance and one of the ingredients in eau-de-cologne which is one of the oldest and best known perfumes.

Traditionally neroli was highly regarded by the Egyptians for healing the mind, body and spirit. It actually was named after a princess of Nerola in Italy who wore it as a perfume. One of the folk uses in Europe was to use orange blossoms in bridal bouquets to calm nervous apprehension before the couple retired to the marriage bed.

How Can Neroli Absolute Help Us Today?

Neroli has shown to be antiparasitic, a digestive tonic, it has an uplifting fragrance (antidepressant) and it lowers blood pressure. It is used for hypertension, anxiety, depression, hysteria, insomnia, and skin conditions like scars, stretch marks, and wrinkles. Neroli is a natural relaxant used to treat depression and anxiety. It encourages confidence, courage, joy, peace and sensuality. Neroli can be used topically on location, on the chakras or vita flex points, directly inhaled, or diffused. It blends well with virtually every oil. As for safety, this is a non-toxic, non-irritating, non-sensitizing and non-phototoxic oil.

Natural Remedies to Relieve Sinus Headaches - Natural Sinus Headache Relief

By Zokson Boss

I have suffered from sinus headaches for years. Besides the over the counter and doctor proscribed medication, I found some natural remedies that work just fine for me, actually even better. I am not sure I would really call it cure for my sinuses, but definitely a quick natural relief.

The very first item I bought was humidifier. My sinuses suffer the most during winter and I guess the dry and cold air is just too much for me. So the first step is to get a humidifier or dehumidifier (depending on where you live). If you live in a humid area, too much humidity may also be damaging for your sinuses because humid air makes the mold and mildew, which makes the sinus sufferers really miserable. In my opinion, Humidifier, dehumidifier and air purifiers are probably one of the best natural remedies to relieve sinus headaches.

My sinuses are stuffy often and the worst is at night so when I wake up in the morning my headache can be unbearable. So I found that nasal strips work like a miracle! One of the leading brands is Breathe Right. If I am home even during the day I may put one on if I see my sinuses are getting worse. Also a 100% natural remedy to relieve sinus headache.

Here are the two other 100% natural remedies Sinus Buster Allergy Formula and SinuCleanse. Sinus buster allergy formula is a spray that relieves headaches, sinus pressure and migraines. The SinuCleanse actually washes your sinuses. I love this product because of its very unique design and because it really helps a lot.

From my experience the natural remedies for sinus headache just worked a lot better than the over the counter medicine.

Sinus Buster allergy formula, SinuCleanse and Breathe Right are one of the top 10 natural remedies for allergy and sinus relief And if you want to get humidifier or dehumidifier here is a link to a very inexpensive site to visit.

As a side note: since I suffered from sinus pressure for years, it turns out I actually suffered from allergies. All these natural remedies to relieve sinus headaches can also work with allergies as well.

Natural Health Options Today

By CarolAnn Bailey-Lloyd

In addition to conventional medicine, consumers today have a number of natural health treatment options from which to choose. While it is always best to check with your primary care provider before starting any new health regimen, individuals should also do a little homework on the different kinds of natural health care systems that are available to them.

Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is one of the many natural health care options assessable to patients today. Some of the various health treatments that TCM provides patients include acupuncture, herbal medicine, or Tuina (Chinese medical massage). Other health services provided by professional Oriental medicine practitioners may involve Tai Chi, Qigong, meridian therapy, moxibustion, cupping, and ear acupuncture, among others.

If you're searching for a better way to relax and to relieve stress and anxiety, then natural health therapies like massage may serve your needs. Though there are over 80 types of massage modalities, most licensed massage therapists are trained in sports massage, Swedish massage, and deep tissue therapy. However, a growing number of massage practitioners have gained advanced training in therapeutic modalities like craniosacral therapy, myofascial release, lymphatic drainage, infant and prenatal massage, and chair massage, among others. In addition to its natural health attributes in promoting overall wellbeing, massage therapy is also helpful in relieving aches and pains associated with musculoskeletal conditions, like fibromyalgia.

Naturopathy or homeopathy are also natural health medicines that may be helpful in treating common and chronic health problems. For example, an experienced homeopathic practitioner may treat patients with homeopathic remedies that are derived from animal, mineral, plant and synthetic substances. Other common, natural healing treatments facilitated by both homeopathic and naturopathic practitioners include flower remedies (i.e., Bach flower remedies) and energy healing therapies.

Chiropractic is also a form of natural health care that is used by patients everywhere. This complementary medicine is practiced by licensed chiropractors, who gently manipulate the spinal column to remove "blockages" and to restore health.

Natural Health Care May Help in Healing

By CarolAnn Bailey-Lloyd

It's amazing what the human body can do - especially when it comes to natural health care and self-healing. Complementary health treatments like massage therapy can be beneficial in achieving optimal health and wellbeing. Labor pain, for instance, can be alleviated through massage. Other common health issues like anxiety and back pain can be significantly reduced with massage therapy as well.

Additional natural health treatments like biofeedback, hypnosis, meditation and yoga are mind-body medicines that are proving to be helpful in a variety of health issues. For example, meditation has been shown to help relieve symptoms from common conditions and diseases like allergies, anxiety, cancer, chronic pain, high blood pressure, and even heart disease, among others.

Individuals who have cancer have discovered many benefits to natural health care treatments. More specifically, acupuncture, aromatherapy, hypnosis, massage, and Tai Chi all seem to have a positive impact on the side effects of conventional cancer treatments; helping to reduce anxiety, nausea and vomiting, pain, and stress.

Ultimately, natural health care treatments can be acquired through a local acupuncturist, aromatherapist, herbalist, massage therapist, chiropractic doctor, or homeopathic practitioner. Some specialized holistic practitioners may offer natural health therapies like Reiki, reflexology, energy healing, acupressure, iridology, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, and holistic nutrition counseling, and more.

While natural health care may be helpful for certain health conditions, it is always a good idea to check with your health care provider to determine if these and other complementary medicines might be right for you. Ideally, if you are really serious about creating a more healthful lifestyle, invest some time in researching the various natural health options that are available to you today.

Natural Healing - Life Force Energy

By Dorothy M. Neddermeyer, PhD

Life Force Energy (LFE) is described as Chi or Prana in Eastern cultures. This LFE is located in seven areas of the body, known as Chakras. The term Chakra originated from Sanskrit meaning "wheel," because of the circular shape to the spinning energy centers which exist in our subtle (etheric) body, which is the non-material counterpart of our physical one.

To the Western world, Chakra and Chi or Prana has little meaning, thus, the best description is to parallel it to electrical power energy. Electric power energy travels through wires, which in turn travel to the end user to power light sockets, electrical outlets, which in turn supply energy to motors, which run a variety of appliances and equipment, etc. The same is true for LFE, it has the same utilitarian aspects, it too travels through wires to be used to power our bodies and make everything function separately and in unison. These wires that conduct the LFE are a combination of many circuits. Most of them are invisible, and are integral parts of our structure. The nerve system and bones are the most common and obvious aspects. The importance of them has been negated by the lack of understanding within Western (allopathic) Medicine practices.

LFE powers the brain, vital organs and every aspect of the anatomy. As electricity is needed to power our homes and infrastructure, our bodies require the same and without it being able to get to each and every part of our anatomy, the body will fail and stop functioning correctly. As each part of the body becomes deprived of it's LFE, each part will become sick, deteriorate and malfunction. This deterioration process is labeled with Western (allopathic) Medicine diagnoses, from A to Z (abdominal cramps to zits). 28.5% of American deaths in 2002 were from heart disease-followed by 22.8% cancer; 6.7% stroke; 5.1% emphysema; chronic bronchitis; and 4.4% injuries to round off the top five causes of death in the U.S.

The malfunctions which surface in the body do not occur by accident, they manifest because the body has been compromised to the degree that it is unable to function properly. The malfunction is merely a call for help. For example: The initial cause of cancer in the liver is blocked LFE or not enough LFE. Cancer in the liver is a manifestation of anger eating away at the liver. The liver is where the majority of unresolved anger is held. Cancer is the manifestation of longstanding resentment. Carrying hatreds, and feelings of 'What's the use?" Thus, LFE is being blocked by the emotional energy that was not resolved.

The deterioration of tissue can be described as rotting tissue, which occurs in fruit, vegetables, meat and any other matter that has a similar cellular structure. Science, a.k.a. Western (allopathic) Medicine, has many complicated diagnoses to describe a natural phenomenon that is our natural evolution and deterioration, which causes change, stated simplistically it is the rotting of tissue.

Natural Healing is simply balancing the LFE and clearing the blocks in our emotional, spiritual and physical circuitry in order to allow the free flow of life sustaining energy to our complete anatomy. LFE is food energy that is converted into a power that makes our system function in a systematic rhythm that sustains our well-being. Without a balanced and energized system our bodies are unable to maintain optimal health.

Natural Healing approaches healing from a causational approach to ensure a free flow of LFE. The removal of any energy blocks ensures that the body can self heal.

Mugwort - Considered a "Woman's Plant"

By Linda Lee Smith

Mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris) is in the Asteraceae (Daisy) family. We get the oil from steam distillation of the leaves and the oil is produced in Canada, France, Morocco, Germany, Hungary, India, China and Japan. It is believed that this plant originated in Eastern Europe and Western Asia and it is now found in temperate zones all over the world. This is a perennial herb that can reach a height of about 5 feet. It has purplish stems, dark green divided leaves that are downy white beneath, and numerous small reddish-brown or yellow flowers.

Traditionally in the Middle Ages, Mugwort was associated with superstition and witchcraft and was used as a protective charm against evil and danger. It was also considered a woman's plant and used specifically as a tonic for the womb, for painful or delayed menstruation and as a treatment for hysteria and epilepsy. There is also some evidence that mugwort was used to expel worms, control fever and used as a digestive remedy. In France it was used as a cure for blindness and other diseases. In China and Japan, the white fluffy underside of the leaves was used for moxibustion. The compressed dried herb was burned over certain points in the body to stimulate it with heat. Mugwort is still current in the British Herbal Pharmacopoeia for amenorrhea and dysmenorrhea.

How Can Mugwort Essential Oil Help Us Today?

Mugwort has antibacterial, antifungal, antiparasitic, properties and it is a gastrointestinal regulator. It is used today for intestinal complaints, worm infestations, headaches, muscle spasms, circulatory problems, menstrual problems/PMS, dysentery, and gout. Mugwort can be diluted 50-50 and applied on location, used on the chakras/vita Flex points, diffused or taken internally. It blends well with oakmoss, patchouli, rosemary, lavandin, pine, sage, clary sage and cedarwood. As for safety, mugwort is not recommended in the British model of aromatherapy for internal use. Because of its effect on menstruation, it should not be used during pregnancy.
