Scared Of Going To The Dentist? Don't Be, Help Is At Hand With EFT

By Anne Marshall

Have you ever felt fear or anxiety about going to the dentist? If so, you are not alone, it has been estimated that almost 80% of the world's population has suffered anxiety about their dental care at one time or another.

Recent research tells us that an amazing 80 - 85% of dental phobia cases result simply from previous bad experiences, where treatment has been painful, or in cases where the dentist has seemed uncaring or insensitive.

Of course, most people who suffer fear and anxiety about going to the dentist, don't actually know, or can't remember how those fears started, but that doesn't matter. What's really important is being able to take control of what you want to happen now and in the future and Emotional Freedom Techniques or EFT as it is commonly known, gives you a simple, reliable and effective way of doing just that.

Very simply EFT is a process of tapping with your fingertips on the acupuncture points of the face, fingertips and upper chest whilst focusing on the emotional issue, that needs to be released or resolved.

This simple technique is known for it's rapid release of anxiety, fears, phobias and other negative emotional states. For many issues the success rate is over 80%, often in just a couple of sessions.

EFT is an ideal technique for children too, especially if they have picked up on the anxiety of a parent or career and 'learnt' to be anxious just like them, even in the absence of any 'bad' experiences of their own. If this is the case for your children, then it's well worth taking half an hour or so to learn EFT yourself and then teach it to your child. Or if they are too young you can tap for them, so that you can both play a game of 'tapping away the tears' in the dentists waiting room. It's fun, simple, highly effective and a tremendously empowering thing to do for your child and you are bound to benefit too.

In my opinion one of the best things about EFT is it's ability to bring about positive changes really quickly, sometimes within minutes. Having said that, I always recommend allowing a few sessions with an experienced practitioner, to be sure of getting the best result possible, though most people are able to notice a measurable improvement by the end of the very first session.

So remember, there is no need to suffer in silence, these simple techniques do work, I see that every day amongst my clients and once learnt EFT is yours forever.
