One day I went into troubles. I had to get four teeth fixed and did not have an insurance to cover the costs. The costs were pretty high because a lot had to be done.
I had a bicycle accident and my teeth were a mess. What would you do if you do not have the money to pay for the whole dental treatment? I did some research and tried to find an insurance that would pay for it. Unfortunately the insurance companies are not stupid. Most do not cover pre-existing problems or only accept them after a long waiting period.
The second problem is that the insurance does not cover cosmetic treatments at all. My doctor said that to get the best possible restoration of my teeth, some of it may also be considered as cosmetic and therefore the insurance will not pay for it.
A friend of mine gave me a tip to check out Blue Cross. She said they have almost no waiting time, just a few days. There is a low monthly fee and a low setup fee.
The next thing I discovered was that there are dental discount plans. I could save about 30-60 percent of the costs and there is no waiting time as well. If you search for dental discount plans in Google then you will find a lot of offers. Enter your zip code to find out if there is an offer in your area.
Often the plans are just available at certain dentists. That means that you can not choose your favorite dentist. However, as long you can save good money and get good treatment this should not matter too much.
